La Perle des Encres or The Jewel of Inks, Herbin inks have long been a favourite of many fountain pen connoisseurs. Besides their wide range of colours, these inks are especially popular due to the use of entirely natural dyes. The use of these dyes means that these inks are of a neutral pH (non-acidic) and fast-drying.

Perfect for use with your fountain pen, brush or dip pen and nib.

Herbin started producing ink in 1670, making ink for King Louis XIV, the Sun King (or Le Roi Soleil) and other important French figures such as Victor Hugo (author of "The Hunchback of Notre Dame" and "Les Miserables").

J. Herbin is the oldest name in pen inks in the world. M. Herbin created “The Jewel of Inks” in his shop on the Rue des Fosses Saint-Germain in Paris in 1700. Herbin inks use only natural dyes, which means they have a neutral pH.ﾠ
