"Maco" is a pen-sized masking tape holder that lets you carry washi tape more compactly than ever before.
Using the included "small reel" and dedicated core, you can rewind commercially available masking tape into small rolls of approximately 10mm diameter and insert them into the case. Up to four different patterns of tape can be stored in a pencil case or pouch for compact portability.
The tape cutter on the holder allows for neat cutting without scissors. While retaining the original pleasure of masking tape, "being able to use it at any length you like," this holder makes it even more fun and convenient to use your favourite patterns of masking tape on trips, at the office, at school, and in a variety of other places.
Make your favourite patterned masking tape into a pen-sized
While masking tape can be used for a variety of purposes, from sticking it on planners and notebooks to decorating and wrapping, it tends to be bulky and difficult to carry around, limiting its use and storage to indoor locations.
"Mako" uses the included "small reel" to rewind commercially available masking tape into small rolls, allowing you to carry up to four patterns of tape in a compact, pen-sized container. You can now enjoy using your favourite masking tape, which was previously difficult to use due to its bulk and portability, in a variety of situations, regardless of location.
The case also prevents unpleasant dirt from getting on the sides of the roll.
One of the drawbacks of masking tape is that if you leave it indoors or in a pouch, the sides of the roll will get dirty and dusty.
Mako allows you to take just the right amount with you, and the case itself also protects the tape inside, so you can enjoy it whether you're taking it with you or using it indoors without worrying about it getting dirty.
"Small winding device" and a dedicated core that can be stored in the case body
The "small roll container" can be stored compactly at the bottom of the main body with a small roll of spare tape or one "roll core" set. The "roll core" can also be purchased separately, making it perfect for sharing or exchanging with friends.
- Maco does not come with masking tape. Please use your own masking tape.
- The "Komaki Core" included with the "Mako" device and sold separately is for 15mm wide tape. (Only one type available at the time of release.) The "Video" on this page also introduces tips on how to wrap 18-20mm wide tape.
- Tapes other than 15mm, 18mm, and 20mm widths cannot be used with Mako (as of April 2021).
- The "Komaki Core" can be reused. If you want to rewind it many times, please purchase the separately sold "Komaki Core" (pack of 10).
- The Mako is a right-hand facing machine only. Regular masking tape is left-hand facing, and if you rewind left-hand facing patterned tape using the "small rewinder," it will become right-hand facing. (The top and bottom of the pattern will remain the same.) If you wind right-hand facing masking tape using the "small rewinder" and set it in the Mako, the top and bottom of the pattern will be reversed.
