Most pens and their refills are meant to be thrown away. Just like printer ink, pen brands want you to stick with their system so they can keep selling you more pens and refills. It's a smart move for them, but not so great for the environment and limiting your options. The Lumos isn't like that. It's a pen you can keep forever!

As a product designer and craftsman who loves using a variety of pens to create illustrations and designs, Tom had this very problem! Pens would sit in his drawer for years, either patiently waiting for that very specific refill, or he was just loathed to dispose of an otherwise fully functional pen that had run out of ink.

Having designed and handmade calligraphy and fountain pens for creative folks across the world full-time for over 6 years, Tom decided it was time to apply his knowledge to the pen he used most of all and one of the biggest culprits when it came to its disposable nature: the fineliner.

GOOD TO KNOW:

  • Choose between: Super Grippy Matt Black or Satin glass bead blasted Sage, Lilac, Ivy, or Rose-Gold
  • The Lumos Pro comes with a full set of 11 tips, but you can buy your favourite nib size or type in packs of 3 here: Lumos tips. 

    Fineliner: 0.1 0.2 0.3 0.5 0.8 1.0 Felt-Tip: Chisel, Bullet & Brush Writing: 0.3, 0.5

  • The Lumos Pro weighs 23g and is 10mm in diameter 
  • A reusable cotton core reservoir for each tip holder. Spares available here: Lumos reservoirs.
  • A sample bottle of Tom's Studio - Deep Black Ink (not waterproof). More colours are available here: Fountain pen ink as well as waterproof pigment inks . Calligraphy Inks, gouache, India ink or those with glitter are not compatible.

Sleekness personified

I'd never normally spend this much on a pen, but the Lumos is so elegant, minimalist and has a good weight and feel to it, even in my small hands. I had the mini version and wanted to try the full size one - the reservoir on the single-tip pen is huge! I'd love to try some other ink colours, and with some persuasion, the pen eventually fitted into the pen loop on my Filofax. It's lovely to write with, I just wish it had some sort of option to attach a clip, to prevent it from slipping out of a pen loop and to stop it rolling away.

Gorgeous little pen!

Not that I'd usually spend this much on a pen, but this is made of quality materials and sustainably refillable. It's very satisfying to watch the reservoir fill up with ink, the pen feels good in the hand and the writing is very smooth...I now want the full-size version!

Game changer

Splashed out on this when it was on offer. Absolutely love it. The quality is superb. I can now have 2 different coloured inks in one pen and can use my fountain pen ink in a fineliner. Highly recommend this pen.
