Mid-Year Stationery Refresh & Journal Reflection

Jul 22, 2025

Can you believe we’re already halfway through the year? Whether you’re a seasoned journaler, an occasional planner, or someone who just loves the feel of fresh paper and new pens, now’s the perfect time to hit reset and give your stationery stash (and your mindset) a little love.

Here’s how to embrace a mid-year stationery refresh and turn reflection into a fun, creative ritual.

Why a Mid-Year Refresh?

Much like spring cleaning, a stationery refresh gives you the chance to:

  • Reorganise your tools and supplies

  • Rediscover forgotten favourites

  • Clear out what no longer inspires you

  • Reignite your love for journaling, planning, and creativity

It’s not just about tidy drawers and full pencil cases, it’s also about checking in with yourself, your goals, and how you want the rest of your year to unfold.

Step 1: Reassess Your Tools

Take a moment to go through your current supplies. What are you using regularly? What’s just taking up space?

Questions to ask yourself:

  • Are my pens still flowing well? (If not, it’s time for a refill or a treat-yourself moment.)

  • Have I been using my notebooks and journals consistently?

  • Do I need a new planner setup?

  • Is there a tool I’ve been eyeing that could motivate me to journal more?

Pro tip: Midori’s colourful dot grid pads or a fresh gel pen can make all the difference!

Step 2: Reflect with Intention

Open up your journal and try these mid-year prompts to reflect on the first half of the year and refocus for what’s next.

Mid-Year Journal Prompts:

  1. What am I most proud of from the past six months?

  2. What challenges have I overcome?

  3. How have my goals shifted since January?

  4. What habits have I formed, and which ones do I want to improve?

  5. What does “balance” look like to me right now?

  6. What three words describe how I want the second half of the year to feel?

  7. What stationery items are making me happy right now?

  8. How can I use journaling more intentionally in my daily life?

Use your favourite washi tape, stickers, and colourful pens to make your pages joyful and engaging. Bonus points for doodling in the margins!

Step 3: Reorganise & Reenergise

Sometimes the simple act of reorganising your supplies can reignite your creativity. Consider:

  • Creating a mini journaling kit with just your essentials

  • Rotating your stationery to keep things fresh

  • Setting up a weekly journaling routine (with tea and snacks, of course!)

Make It Yours

Remember: your journal is your space. Whether you reflect through words, lists, sketches or collages, there’s no right or wrong way to do it.

A fresh mindset and some well-loved (or brand-new!) stationery can be just the thing to carry you through the rest of the year with clarity and joy.
