Midori Paintable Stamps come in lots of different formats and designs, but what they have in common is the ink. They are pre-inked and refillable with a pigment-based ink that is waterproof once dry. This means that you can colour them in or write over them with water-based pens.
These stamps are perfect for anyone who wants to decorate their journal easily or needs to add practical features like calendars or habit trackers without the hassle of drawing them by hand. If you are not a confident artist, they are a fantastic way to make your journal spreads pretty.

To get the best results, use them with slightly thicker paper like MD thick or the 160gsm found in Archer & Olive journals. This will stop any ghosting (showing through on the other side of the paper).
When you have lined up your stamp, press down directly on a flat surface. Remember, you only have one chance, as it would be very difficult to match the positioning exactly on a second attempt.
Avoid smudging the ink when wet and allow it to dry fully. This shouldn't take long. If it does, you've got too much ink on the stamp.
Once your impression is completely dry, you can get creative. Use water-based pens to colour in or extend your designs. Remember, you can blend colours without smudging the ink from the stamp.
Midori have created their own range of pens especially for use with the paintable stamps. They have two tips, one brush and one fineliner and come in four different colour sets to match your journal aesthetic.
If the impressions from your stamp start to become patchy or uneven, make sure you are using a flat surface and that you are pressing evenly across the whole design. If this does not help, it may be time to top up your ink.
To keep your stamps looking perfect for as long as possible, I recommend keeping them in a sealed container and away from heat or light.
