In the Great Stationery Addict Survey of 2019 (I’ve added the great but it truly was), I was asked for more letter writing items, more stickers and flat items that can be shared with penpals. You asked, I listened.

This box is the first to contain items produced exclusively for this box. It was a big brave step for me but I wanted to bring you items that you couldn’t buy anywhere else.

January Blues was inspired by the Pantone Colour of the year for 2020 – classic blue. I was lucky enough to be able to licence the classic pantone poster design to create a postcard and sticker for you.

Another hot trend for 2020 particularly in homewares is Shibori. This is a Japanese art form, similar to tiedye. The square postcard, sticker and scrapbooking papers were created using photographs of fabric dyed using the Shibori technique. Whether you are going to frame it, scrapbook it or post it to a friend, I love the patterns on the square postcard and can see this shape and size featuring in future boxes.

Ecoline brush pens are one of my favourites, they are so versatile and the liquid water colour is the juciest of any pen I’ve tried. As well as using the pen alone for lettering or illustration, you can also use it with water to create beautiful effects. Simply draw on some smooth plastic, e.g. a sandwich bag, then use your water brush to pick up the ink. The more water, the lighter the shade, the more ink, the darker. If you have multiple brush pens or Ecoline liquid watercolours, you can rub the brush tips together or dip them in the ink to pick up other colours creating a two-tone effect. I’ve had a little play here but I’d love to see what you can create!

As well as the beautifully delicate washi tape and stickers, I have also included a mood tracker. For those who haven’t come across them before, the idea is that you create a key and colour in or number each day to reflect your mood. I found a mood tracker incredibly helpful for managing my anxiety and tracking my hormones. When you can see the patterns, things seem so much more manageable. This is a whole separate blog post which will follow shortly.
